TEMPORARY STATUS / BUSINESS IMMIGRATION
Self Employed
The province of Quebec, under the Canada-Quebec Accord,
operates its own business immigration program. The main
requirement to businessmen applying to Quebec is their
intention to live in the province of Quebec and to contribute
to its economic development.
In common with the federal program, an applicant must
have at least two year experience as a self-employed
worker in the occupation he/she is planning to pursue
in Quebec and must demonstrate a legally obtained net
worth of $100,000. In addition to the granted work
and management experience points, the applicant will
be assessed against selection grid of Quebec, including
such factors as financial capability and the ability
to successfully complete the business project. If the
application of self-employed person is accepted, he/she
will receive a Quebec Selection Certificate, the official
immigration document issued by the Quebec government.
The Government of Canada admits to Quebec those business
class immigrants that Quebec has selected, after due
medical examination and security check.
Fee schedules:
*Fee for processing of the application by the Quebec
government:
$700 for the applicant
$100 for each dependent
*Fee for processing of the application by the Federal
government:
$1050 for the applicant
$550 for spouse or common-law partner and each dependent
child over 22 years
$150 for each dependent child under 22 years
**Right of permanent residence fee (Landing visa):
$490 CDN for the applicant and for spouse or common-law
partner and for each dependent child over 22 years
*Fees are not refundable under any circumstances unless
the CIC did not issue a visa due to problems with criminal
records or medical examination.
